The growth of the Spanish tourism sector helps generate interest in hotel investment
We attended to the annual Conference on the real estate sector organized by Cushman & Wakefield in Madrid, as every year, the event had a success of participation.
The theme focused on the new hotel investment strategies.
Once the conference entitled “What´s next: Hotel investment strategies in a new cycle” has been completed and analysed, we have reached the following conclusions regarding the opportunity of hotel investment in our country:
• In the first place, the creation of employment in the tourism sector and the total expenditure of tourists who come to our cities has increased with respect to previous years, so it directly affects the demand for quality supply in the hotel sector, as the result of the increase in new of higher category hotels openings over the last decade.
• Spain continues to be an attractive market for international hotel brands, because there is considerable margin for the vacation and urban sector in our cities, even though, still 60% of the hotel market is represented by independent hotels.
• Currently, hotel investment is more in demand since tourism worldwide is growing as well as the emergence of new tourist business niches that generate interest in hotel investment.
• It is important to have the management tool responsible for real estate investment assets by an "asset management" as it facilitates and optimizes the performance of these assets.
To conclude, we highlight that holiday tourism and medium-sized cities such as Palma, are market segments of interest within the hotel investment market because of the offer it offers at the moment.
